Your body is full of these.
They're tension knots, and they wreak havoc on your body. They squeeze you so tight you can't sleep or relax, puff up your face, bloat your belly, twist your whole body out of shape, and they're doing it right now while you read this.

So what is a tension knot?
If you've ever cut raw chicken, you've seen it: the thin, shiny film on the meat. It's called fascia.
You've got the same film around every muscle in your body. It's meant to stay soft and slide as you move.
But it was never built for the life we live now. The stress that never stops. The screens. The bad news. The job that keeps you in a chair all day. None of it was your choice.
So that film dries out, sticks to itself and knots up tight.
Those are tension knots.

Right now, as you sit reading this, you have hundreds of them. Many are in places you'd never think to rub.
Each one grabs whatever's next to it and squeezes. Day and night.
They're behind the things you could never explain. The ones you were told were stress, age or just you.
And the first thing they take is your peace.
They keep you stuck in fight-or-flight.

Every tension knot squeezes the nerves caught inside it. Day and night.
And squeezed nerves tell your brain one thing, over and over: you're not safe.
So you can't sleep. You can't relax. You can't stop overthinking. You wake up exhausted, every single day.
And they don't stop there.
They shut down your stomach.

Your stomach has to keep moving to push food through. And it's wrapped in that same film, top to bottom.
Tension knots clamp around it and hold it still. Food and gas just sit there, backing up with nowhere to go.
So you bloat after every meal. You bloat when you've barely eaten. You cut out gluten, dairy, everything, and you still look six months pregnant.
And that's only what they do on the inside.
They give you cellulite.

Your skin is held down by thin bands of that same film.
Tension knots yank those bands tight and drag your skin down. Everything in between bulges up. Every dip is a dimple.
So you can lose the weight and still have it. You can squat every day and still have it. You can rub in every cream, and nothing changes.
And that's not the only way they change how you look.
They puff up your face and legs.

Your body drains extra fluid all day long. There's no pump. It only drains when that film moves.
Tension knots squeeze the drains shut. The fluid backs up and pools in your face, your ankles and your legs.
So you wake up puffy. You look tired however much you sleep. Your legs feel heavy by evening, and your socks leave marks.
And none of that compares to what they do to your shape.
They pull your body out of shape.

That film is what holds your back straight.
Tension knots play tug of war with it. One drags your hips forward. Another hauls your shoulders in. Bit by bit, they twist your whole body out of line.
So your lower belly gets pushed out into a pooch. Your shoulders round. Your back hunches.
No matter what you try, the crunches, the posture corrector, standing up straight, it always goes back.
And the last one is why you feel older than you are.
They hurt you in one place and hide in another.

That film is all one piece, so every tension knot pulls on something far away.
Your back aches, and the knot is in your hip. Your neck is stiff, and it's in your shoulder. Your heel hurts, and it's up in your calf.
So every fix goes to the wrong place. You rub where it hurts. You stretch where it hurts. You get the massage where it hurts. And two days later, the knot has pulled it tight again.
The pain never really leaves. And some nights you lie awake wondering if this is just what getting old is. If this is how the rest of your life is going to feel.
It isn't.
Every one of these six comes from the same thing: tension knots. And a tension knot can be released.
When it lets go, what it took comes back.
You just have to know how to release one.
How to break the knots and finally release the tension
You can't rub one out. Press on a cold knot and it just grips harder. That's why your hands, the foam roller and the massage gun never worked.
It takes three things, in this order.
- Warm it

Rest it on the spot and let the heat sink in, deeper than hands can reach. The knot softens. Its grip starts to slip.
- Find it

Now glide, slowly. You'll feel it: a catch, a tender spot that hurts so good. Stop. That's the knot. You've got it.
- Release it

Switch to blue and hold it right there. Pulses drive into the knot and break it apart. Breathe. Wait. Then it gives, and everything it was choking lets go.
